Most people don’t need convincing that training or coaching works. What they really need is to feel understood.
When someone asks about personal training or online coaching, they are rarely asking about sets, reps or prices. They are asking because something is not working for them. Maybe they feel stuck despite trying hard. Maybe they have no structure, no accountability, or no confidence that what they are doing is right. Until you understand that problem, any solution you offer will miss the mark.
The first step is always to listen. Ask questions. What have they tried before? What is frustrating them right now. What does progress actually look like to them? When you take the time to uncover this, the conversation changes. They stop feeling like they are being sold to and start feeling like they are being helped.
Once the problem is clear, the solution becomes simple. If they struggle with consistency, show them how regular check-ins and accountability keep them on track. If they are confused by conflicting information, explain how a clear plan removes guesswork. If they lack confidence, show them how guidance and feedback build it over time. The solution should always be a direct response to their specific issue, not a generic sales pitch.
Selling personal training or online coaching is not about pushing a product. It is about connecting the right support to the right problem. When people see that you understand their situation and can clearly explain how you help solve it, the decision feels natural. Trust is built, value is clear, and the sale becomes a by-product of genuinely helping someone move forward.
